GPS device and St. Louis or bust!

We plan to be in St. Louis tonight! Yesterday we bought a GPS device so now we know how fast we are going, where we've been and how many miles. So maybe we will not run out of gas anymore!!! Fingers crossed. there are two new photos on the homepage. CHEERS!!

Things we have learned so far!

Hello everyone,

Things we have learned so far.  The first one is. 1) the car is great but you can't stop without having to answer several questions. Here are the most asked, so far.

1) Are you listening to The Boss? 2) Is this Elvis' car? 3) What year is it? 4) How long is that car?

Things we have learned.

1) The car gets about 8-10 miles a gallon.  2) It would be great to know how fast we are going.  3) We need to get used to people honking at us.  4) We need to fill up every 200 miles (opps no odometer) so every 2 hours.  5) Going up hill is more difficult than going down.  6) She needs oil on a regular basis.

We really are leaving now!

Hello All, I know what your thinking they haven't left yet!  Well we are leaving now I promise.  We dicided to stay and do the swim meet last yesterday.  The car has 9 suitcases in it and still room for the camera gear.  Who needs a suburban. We took a vote last night and we are still driving "bubbles" on the trip even though the air conditioner is not going to work.  People did it in the 50s they didn't die.  Right?

Not sure when we will find internet service to post next.  but check back we will try to post regularly.  We hope to be somewhere past Cincinnati tonight.

Out of Gas on our first night.

How many times will Rick run out of gas?  Well, its our fist night out and we were on the side of the road empty.  Thankfully our friend Perry lived close by and brought us enough to get to a station.  Rick thought the mechanic said "I put some gas in her."  but after some reflection at midnight he now thinks Woodie said "I'd put some gas in her!"  The 'd  on that I makes a big difference.  But, oh well, we are ok and it "is an adventure."   While filling up we met a fellow who stopped to look the car over.  His Quote of the Day was "I had dental surgery on Wednesday and it hurts to smile, but this baby is worth it."  So we met some one nice, got to chat with our friend and we are on the road again.  Good night everyone...........Cath

Luggage/pets

The dogs and cat check out the suitcases as we start to pack.

You need good luggage to hit Route 66.  These wonderful cases were found on VintageSwank.com.  A "fab" retro site check it out.

We still need a name!!

A request for all our friends and family out there.  Put on your thinking caps.  She needs a name.  Well,  I assume it's a she because it's PINK!   If you have a good name send it our way.  But don't suggest "Pinkie".

Still at the Shop

OK, OK, the car is 45 year old.  It has a few glitches and issues to work out but who doesn't at 45?  She's pink, she's allowed a little bit of attiitude.  Here she sits, waiting for a little attention.  We picked up new mufflers from USA auto parts. Our wonderful auto mechanic says we will be ready to leave this weekend.  So fingers crossed we are on vacation!

We promise once we are on The Mother Road we will send photos of the adventure not just the car.
